Creating FaZe Clan's identity along with 4 other creatives (Alexander Morgan, Matty De Cesare, Tobias Damm, Nikan Nadim) was such a great experience. Having working with Faze for just under 2 years presented me with multiple opportunities to expand my work in different mediums to their large fan base. Faze is the most followed gaming organisation in the world and reaches to over 75 million people every month through the content they create.
The team was asked to rebrand but to keep the original shape of Faze so their identity wouldn't be lost as so many fans had become used to their brand. However values wanted to be presented, Faze wanted to show their fan base what Faze was and what they represent through their identity. Using 'Champions, passion and strong' as their 3 core values we introduced colour to their palette to really give their brand life and meaning. The yellow represents 'champions' with the endless titles they have won, the accomplishments they have reached and the position they find themselves in with being the most followed and biggest gaming club in the world. In comparison blue represents 'passion', something they all have, they found themselves doing what they love because of their dedication and passion for video games, becoming online personalities through youtube and other social media platforms. And finally, the red symbolises their original branding. Fans of Faze associate with red because of who they are and they didn't want to lose their touch.
Having you work seen every day by millions of people, whether that be in the comfort of their home watching videos online or it is at events watched by hundreds of thousands on the biggest stage it is such a nice feeling having your work appreciated by the masses. This project is the biggest responsibility I will have to date, helping the team give a life to the brand of Faze and push their identity further to connect with the fans is something ill forever be grateful for. I love people representing something I worked on and it only motivates me to further my portfolio in creating identities that people love and adapt to.
One of the things that I find the craziest about working for an organisation and movement like Faze Clan was seeing work we made in video games I grew up playing, both Call of Duty and Counter-Strike. Having the work in video games like that is something I could on have dreamt as of a child and seeing it today is unbelievable.
Finally seeing fans wear things that have the branding of Faze Clan is wonderful, seeing kids who love to represent the mark we worked on and developed is such a humbling experience. Overall to see kids wear the logo and represent Faze makes what we developed over the few months working on this brief worth it because they are the people who keep the brand alive.
